About the Recipe

This old fashioned loaf has been in our family for years. It was traditionally made with glacé cherries but we have substituted them for blueberries and it works even better. It is dense, flavourful and very comforting: absolutely perfect with a cup of tea and a good book!

Ingredients

  • 4 oz butter

  • 5 oz caster sugar

  • 1.5 oz. ground almonds

  • 1 172 oz flour 

  • 4 oz blueberries

  • 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1


Beat the butter and sugar in a large bowl. 


Step 2


Add eggs one at a time. 

Add the almonds. 

Beat well. 


Step 3

Fold in the flour blueberries and vanilla. 


Step 4

Bake at 375 for 50 minutes in a lined loaf tin. 


Allow to cool before slicing.  Enjoy!
